Nine Mile Hill
submitted by Marianne

My husband and I were going to the funeral of a priest friend of ours, and we had to go up a hill, known to locals as "nine mile hill," since it was nine miles from somewhere (I never knew where). The roads were covered with ice, and as we went up there were cars slewed this way and that on the hill.

We were making slow but steady headway for the most part, but near the top the car bogged down. Two men came and pushed us up to the top. When we looked back to wave and thank them, they were gone. We were at the top of the hill.
